Maxi-pad marketing
If that title hasn’t scared you off…read on my stalwart friend. Read on!
There are people in my house (perhaps me, perhaps not…I like to keep the mystery alive) who use maxi-pads.
Our bathroom is very small and awkwardly laid out so said pads live precariously balanced on top of the towel bar at eye level across from the toilet.
As I sat there, reading the Always Ultra Thin bag in front of me one day, I saw the word “Coreboost”. Or more specifically...
COREBOOST + RapidDry 😮
And I guess since I’m a jaded marketer now, I immediately started to imagine the marketing department that came up with that trademarked phrasing.
It didn’t really resonate with me… RapidDry—yes, but Coreboost—not so much.
Sounds more like automobile industry wording than feminine hygiene.
Did they put that wording through usability studies?
Did a team review it together?
Did that team include people who menstruate?
We’ll never know, but it is fun to notice these things out in the wild!
I've tried to come up with some words-smooshed-together phrasing for my products over the years and often couldn’t think of any so I went with the plain ("clear over clever") version. I’m please with “Coach Liftoff” though!
Some may like it and some may not.
But done is better than perfect 😁
So I guess I’m with you, Always Ultra Thins with COREBOOST + RapidDry technology.
Good job taking messy action 😜
And if you’re over there trying to figure out a cute smooshed name for your business, don’t fret! Pick something and move forward (I’m a fan of using your name). You can always change it later!
Picking up what I’m putting down?
